Heather McDermid
Heather works as Assistant Curator and Communications Manager for Vancouver New Music and in Digital Communications for DanceHouse. She holds a BA in Radio and Television from Ryerson University, and an MA from the Centre for Cross Faculty Inquiry in Education at UBC, where she engaged in arts-based research to examine the interplay between collectively run spaces, and artistic creation. She is also a musician and sound artist who has performed and has contributed to exhibits and events in Canada, the US, Japan, Norway and Portugal. For the past 8 years she has been collaborating with visual artist Keith Langergraber to create animation, music and sound design for art films and installations. She has given guest talks in sound art at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, at and at the School of Visual Art in Dawson City, Yukon, and in 2018 spoke as a panelist at MUTEK as part of Keychange :: Amplify Empowering Women in Digital Arts and Electronic Music.
